Soya chaap is a popular Indian vegetarian dish made from soybean chunks or soy protein. It is known for its meat-like texture and ability to absorb the flavors of the spices and marinades used. Here's a basic recipe for preparing soya chap:

Ingredients:

For the Soya Chaap:

  • 200 grams of soya chaap (soybean chunks or sticks)
  • Water for boiling
  • Salt

For the Marinade:

  • 1/2 cup thick yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons ginger-garlic paste.
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • Salt to taste

For Grilling:

  • 2-3 tablespoons vegetable oil

Instructions:

  1. Preparing Soya Chaap:

    • Boil enough water in a large pot and add a pinch of salt.
    • Add the soya chaap pieces to the boiling water.
    • Boil for about 10-15 minutes to soften the soya chaap and remove any raw taste.
    • Drain the water and let the chaap pieces cool.
